“If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you. You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot. Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth.”—(via thesweetbomb)
The head of a company survived 9/11 because
His son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was
His turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her
Alarm clock didn’t go off in time.
One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
Because of an auto accident.
One of them
Missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take
Time to change.
Car wouldn’t start.
Get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man
Who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
Took the various means to get to work but before.
He got there, he developed a blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today..
Now when I am
Stuck in traffic,
Miss an elevator,
Turn back to answer a ringing telephone…
All the little things that annoy me,
I think to myself,
This is exactly where
I’m meant to be
At this very moment
“To reinvent yourself you must dismantle language
until the word ‘myth’ is just a collection of consonants,
learn the difference between the truth and the truth
you’ve been taught, warp your soul into a shape
you can believe in. You must redefine what it means
to blink, redefine what it means to get out of bed in
the morning, to move or to sit completely still,
to walk into the ocean and watch clouds
drift across the blue ribbon overhead.
I think of how I could go back to birth
and be so innocent once more,
how I could puncture a rib and think nothing of it, flay
out my skin as if I were a fish, lie in the snow,
arms spread like a star fish, making sweeping patterns
with our legs like we did when we didn’t know any better.
I’d relearn that if someone hurts you, the most noble thing you can
do is to take their head between your palms, look into their
blue eyes and say yes, I can survive this,
yes I will love you again.”—contramonte, “How to Reinvent Yourself” (via contramonte)
